This is very much a "living" site that will grow and change alongside Dr. Moore's academic
career. The site was started just as he graduated with his PhD and accepted a position
as an Assistant Professor at Samford University (Birmingham, AL). The blog in particular follows
the experience of Dr. Moore as a new faculty member, instructor and independent researcher.
It is hoped that insight into the early stages
of an academic career will be of use to others. This site also serves as a place for
all of Dr. Moore's publications, projects, teaching resources, code and blog to be

Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in German Language and Literature, Travis
Moore began his graduate education at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
in 2008. He graduated with his doctor of audiology degree (AuD) in 2012, after which
Dr. Moore practiced as a clinical audiologist in a small private practice. In 2014,
he accepted a position at the Vanderbilt Medical Center as a research
audiologist before beginning his PhD training later that year. During this time
Dr. Moore completed several projects focusing on auditory and cognitive neuroscience,
as well as psychoacoustics and virtual reality. Dr. Moore graduated with
his PhD in Hearing Science in 2018.
Dr. Moore is currently an assistant professor at Samford University. His appointment
is in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, housed within the
School of Health Professions. In his current role, Dr. Moore teaches clinical
doctorate students and continues his research endeavors.
